Three kinds of extruding machine

Granulation techniques are based on the powder, molten liquid, aqueous solution to make into a certain shape and size granule. At present, the granulation process used by pharmaceutical factories includes extrusion granulation and shear granulation.

The extrusion granulation method means the drug powder is uniformly mixed with the auxiliary materials in the prescription and then a binder is added to make the soft material, and then it is forced to squeeze through a sieve to get required granules.

Some industry insiders say how to get the soft material ((kneading) is the key of extruding granulation. The moisture of soft material should be suitable for granulation, in most cases it is based on experience. Such as the mixed material can be clumped together as a mass without sticking to the hand and it can be split by light pressure with fingers. Binders are added to impart cohesive qualities to the powdered material, the proportion of addition is based on the characteristics of the raw materials.

Commonly used extruding granulators on market are screw granulator, basket granulator and oscillating granulator. Each granulator has its features, so that the function is different.

Single/Double Screw granulator

The features of screw granulator (single or double screw) is that the extrusion screw can be cooled, the extrusion barrel adopts a split structure, and the barrel can be easily opened by removing the bolt and easy to clean. In addition, the screw extrusion granulator can be equipped with a cutting knife and adjust the related speed to obtain short granules of required length. At present, the screw extrusion granulator is mainly suitable for products that need to be granulated in such as rubber additives, food additives, plastic additives, catalysts, pesticides, dyes, pigments, daily chemicals, and pharmaceuticals industries.

Basket granulator(rotary extruding granulator)

The working principle of rotary extrusion granulator is that under the squeeze of the rolling knife, force the uniformly mixed soft materials to pass through the screen sieve, and the granules are cut by the scraper to obtain cylindrical particles with uniform length. It is characterized by low extruding temperature rise, small extrusion aperture and large extrusion output, which is especially suitable for granulating viscous materials.

However, some clients have responded that in the granulation of sticky Chinese medicine soft materials, the rotary extrusion granulator generates heat during the extrusion process, and the soft materials are too dry. In addition, it is easy to stick during centrifugal granulation. It is important to control the speed, time and air intake of centrifugal granulation.

Oscillating granulator

The swing granulator is a granulating equipment specially designed for the pharmaceutical, food, health care and other industries, it works at room temperature. The powder is added to the hopper when it is working, and the granules are directly made into granules at one time, which saves costs and improves the quality of materials. The produced particles are beautiful with moderate hardness, which is convenient for tablet production, packaging and storage, and capsule production.

According to the industry introduction, the swing granulator has features of low energy consumption, low noise, high output, convenient operation and convenient maintenance; the rotor is easy to disassemble and clean. The screen sieve is easy to replace; the mechanical transmission system is completely enclosed in the machine body, material contact part is made of stainless steel, which is durable and long service life. However, the oscillating granulator is not suitable for liquid, slurry or grinding purposes.
